Why Adventure Pants?

I started seriously hiking when I was 19 years old.  I have a weekly ritual of heading into the woods to recharge.  When I had babies, my adventures were enhanced by being in the moment with them and seeing the woods through fresh eyes. My first daughter Amy's first words were "Go, go, go".  Now she has a sister who is not quite hiking but loves dirt.  To kids, adventures can happen anywhere.  However, being in the woods is sacred for us.  We are always excited to put on our "adventure pants" and go.  I feel it is so important to get kids out in nature at an early age, and it is important for my emotional and spiritual health to get out regularly as well.  I thought it would be fun to blog my experiences and pictures on this site- to encourage other parents to get out with their kids and give some ideas for where and how.

Amy, Analise, and I hike weekly- this started when Amy was five weeks old and up until I was 38 weeks pregnant.  Analise was out a week after the birth.  Staying active through my pregnancies- hiking and snowshoeing, was the best thing for me and my child to be.  We hike most weekends, but we have also been skiing, camping, kayaking, roller skating, bowling, and biking.  I also learn so much mindfulness just from spending time in nature with my girls. Come along and share the adventure with us!
